About Me
"The shortest and surest way to live with honour in the world, is to be in reality what we would appear to be; and if we observe, we shall find, that all human virtues increase and strengthen themselves by the practice of them"
By way of introduction to me, Eugene McHugh, and Wicklow Counselling and Psychotherapy Service, I have put together a synopsis of my experience to enable you to make a choice in using my services as a Counsellor / Psychotherapist / Clinical Supervisor.
My training took place in the Institute of Creative Counselling and Psychotherapy (ICCP) in Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin. This training covered the major types of therapy on general offer today. Since qualification, I have undertaken further training in Somatic or Body Psychotherapy using the theoretical approaches of Wilhelm Reich, Alexander Lowen and David Boadella. I have also undertaken training in Hakomi Body Psychotherapy with Ron Kurtz , Donna Martin and Bob Milone. This is a Mindfulness based method using the body and, to support this I obtained a qualification in Clinical Mindfulness. I have completed further training in Addiction Studies at National University of Ireland and in the Institute of Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy (IICP) as a clinical Supervisor to support other professionals. In order to support clients to deepen their personal awareness I have also undertaken training in to an Advanced level in Jungian Sand Tray to assist in emotional awareness. The Practice is based on a Humanistic and Integrative Therapy model and is Person Centered. I am a fully Accredited Member both as a therapist and a supervisor with the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP). I am trained in Suicide Intervention using the ASIST model from Living Works and have trained in the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) with Babette Rothschild, a leading figure in the field. As well as my private practice I lecture on the Honours Degree Programme and Higher Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy in Dublin Business School. I also provide team building and mindful awareness programme for groups, staff rooms and management teams and Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) when required. These self care weekends can be tailored to your requirements and can be residential.
